Gaurav enjoys a wide range of films from various genres, but Martin Scorsese, Brian de Palma and Francis Ford Coppola are a few of his favorite directors and he's watched nearly all of their films within the crime/drama genre and swears by his favorite show Boardwalk Empire(also a Scorsese production).
Gaurav consumes a lot of historic/historical fiction and contemporary war films which is another staple genre in his watching list from Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan to Black Hawk Down, The Hurt Locker and newer films like 1917 and shows like Band Of Brothers - the war genre is one of his go-to genres to watch.
Gaurav shares a soft spot for the The Lord Of The Rings trilogy which released when he was a teenager, apart from Star Wars that only debuted in theatres in India in the 2000s and the Mission Impossible franchise which are his favorite movie franchises.
Every now and then, Gaurav likes to take a time capsule back in time to travel back to Old Hollywood to watch and study some of Classic Hollywood's greatest films from Hitchcock to Bergman, Tarkovski, Kubrick, Godard and others. He even named his electric guitar Audrey after the enigmatic Audrey Hepburn and has sampled quotes by Humphrey Bogart and Hepburn in his beattape releases as a music producer.
Christopher Nolan is perhaps Gaurav's favorite current director while he also rates Quentin Tarantino very highly. Nolan's films Inception, Tenet, Interstellar, Dunkirk and the director's Batman trilogy remain influential films he has watched.
His favorite composers include Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone, Ramin Djawadi, AR Rahman, Michael Giacchino and Radiohead guitarist/composer Jonny Greenwood.
