The action genre tends to be less complicated because characters from many different films can share the same motivations without things looking awkward. It would be weird to have 20 movies about a corporate raider like Gordon Gekko from Wall Street, but it’s okay to have hundreds of action movies about a peaceful person getting picked on by bullies, forcing them to unleash their inner rage.
